In the city’s West End, Kingston residents of the Reddendale and Lakeshore neighborhoods can enjoy Everitt Park- a serene lakeside park that draws you in with lush greenery to then reveal a plateau of flat rocks looking out to beautiful Lake Ontario. Whether you pass by on foot, bike, or drive to this hidden gem, Everitt Park is a place to unwind, connect with your surroundings, and take a breath.

I usually ride my bike to the park, or as me and my two younger siblings call it, “Secret Beach” (they are the two little rascals in the photo). We’ve been visiting Everitt Park ever since we moved to the West End, and have always appreciated our time there as a chance to relax and take in the crisp air bouncing off of the lake.

As waves of lockdowns in Ontario continue to strike, visits to Everitt Park have become even more of a treasure, and is one of the only spaces where we feel detached and free from the stresses of the world- a feeling that is echoed by most of the park’s visitors.
