Short Blog Seven: Comment on Kaileigh Wu’s Blog

As an Architectural Studies student here at the University of Toronto, we are constantly considering the authors of urban planning and architectural developments within the Western canon, and how their identity may restrict the experiences of BIPOC and other disadvantaged communities that would ultimately support a common, progressive future.

I found it really compelling in your blog that you articulated the need to uplift and include the underrepresented voices of people who have experienced housing displacement, gentrification, and other issues of accessibility when looking forward at the urban framework of large metropolitan cities across the world. The care ethics that support a progressive future are ultimately rooted in accessibility, and it is so critical to include the voices of minority groups and ostracized communities in the framework of the future.

Thanks for the great read, Kaileigh!
